Seed bomb making

Parents and children participated in a workshop making seed bombs, which they took home to plant in their gardens and increase local plant diversity.

Seed bombs are small, hand rolled balls of wildflower seeds, compost and flour, mixed with water. They are designed to be easily planted or thrown onto the soil, allowing seeds to grow and flourish with minimal maintenance.

What exactly are seed bombs?

Plants grown with seed bombs:

  • boost biodiversity by attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies

  • restore natural habitats and provide homes for wildlife

  • capture carbon and create more oxygen which can negate the effects of pollution in urban areas

  • improve soil conditions by introducing organic matter to make it more fertile and capable of retaining moisture
