Seed sharing and plants resist

When I put a call out to fellow residents for spare wildflower seeds, I was overwhelmed by the generous response – these donations of unwanted seeds were then given out to visitors during the community event.

Plants resist

I love how resilient plants can be when they fight back against human intervention in the urban landscape. The grass pictured here finds a way to survive and push through the cracks in the concrete. It reclaims the land and provides inspiration not to give up hope – but to persist to find a way to exist.

Seed sharing

Saving seeds and sharing them with neighbours helps to spread knowledge and commitment to increase plant biodiversity and protect our environment. It also helps to build community networks, saves money and – as Esiah Levy of SeedsShare argued – fights back against corporate control of GMO, hybrid F1 seed production.
